Trenbolone and 19-norteststerone are anabolic steroids used as growth promoting agents in the production of meat. These steroids result in a higher meat/fat ratio however there is the risk that residues will be left in meat products and harm the consumer. The use of trenbolone and 19 nortestosterone is banned by the EU. In order to enforce this ban it is essential that suitable testing procedures are in place. An essential part of this procedure involves the efficient extraction of trenbolone or 19 nortestosterone from the tissue extract.
