Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of infections. However, in humans it may lead to Chloramphenicol induced aplastic anaemia. As a result the use of Chloramphenicol has been banned for the treatment of animals used in food production, in most countries. This effective screening method has been developed to detect the presence of Chloramphenicol in urine samples.
The Randox Food Diagnostics Chloramphenicol FAST ELISA makes it possible to detect Chloramphenicol and its glucuronide form (the major metabolite in urine).
